General Information
Called bacon slicers. Highly sought after because of their slick design. They have large, solid flanges that are rather thin. Used annular bearings.
---
The design has important features decades ahead of its time such as the freehub and use of annular race cartridge bearings.  The hubs were eye-wateringly expensive to buy.

The cartridge bearings were a standard industrial size, replaceable by heating the hub to expand it.   The rear bearing was regarded as too small for the job.

A detailed history of Harden and their various innovations and quirks is at
http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/harden-steveg.html

Spoke holes are quite close to the edge so a spoke cross producing close to 90degrees seems advisable.  The rear bearings of the day tended to fail early and were regarded as too small for the job.
The bearing sizes are specified in the above article. Can anyone advise if these are still easily available?

Unlike most makers of the time period, Harden produced their hubs by machining aluminum alloy from a casting and were one of the first hub manufatures to extensively use sealed catridge bearings in their hubs.
