Details:   The first generation(s) of Shimano 600 parts.  Like the Dura-Ace group it came from some fairly humble beginnings appearing to be only a small step up from the recreational use components that Shimano was producing at the time. By the early 1980's, parts took on the 6100 series model numbers and the "Shimano 600 Series" name.  These parts continued to be produced for a few years after the introduction of 600EX, but was eventually phased out entirely by the end of 1984, about the time that Shimano introduced S.I.S. into the 600EX lineup.
