General Information
Albuch-Kotter produced lugged steel Frames from Columbus, Oria-Mannesmann and Falck Tubesets. For triathlon they built models with 650 wheels. Kotter gave a 10-year factory warranty against frame breakage. Many models were sub-crome plated and almost all frames came cavity-sealed. Branding was the customary "K" on the forkcrown and upper seatstays.
History
Before Albuch-Kotter manufactured frames itself, the company distributed italian frames made by Romani and Pistrada under the name "Kondor".The company bought the frames and built them up in a manufactory in Schechingen. In 1982 the company, owned by Konrad Kotter and producing mainly "Kondor" bikes had to file for bankrupcy. In 1983 Hartmut Fischer founded the Albuch- factory in Boehmenkirch- Albuch is the district-name for the notheastern part of the Swabian Alb, where Boehmenkirch is located. Racing bikes in the upper price-segment were marketed under the established trademark "Kotter". Konrad Kotter had a professional Racing team until 1982 (Kondor) and 1987 "Kotter´s Racing Team". In 1982 the team completed th Giro d´Italia as "Kondor-Kotter" and merged later with Albuch Kotter. From 1987 sponsoring was continued until 1991, involving only individual riders and guest riders. Due to increasing competition of cheaper foreign producers from low-wage countries Albuch Kotter stopped the bicycle-production and closed its company in the spring of 2001.
