Used these a lot- Almost all 12-18. The removeable seal was a god-sent. Allowed easy lubrication. The spacing was not always perfect (Before Indexed gears it wasn't such an issue) but I used them with Shimano SIS and Suntour Accushift for many years. They were lighter than the popular (but useless!) Maillard Compact most people used at the time. The remover is splined (A real improvement on the dogged removers common until then.) It was VERY thin and if not fully engaged it would rip. I sold customers replacements a few times for this reason. The splines could get dirty and then it was easy to fail to fully engage it.

The America 1992 body features precision ground, bearing races and chrome-plated parts for increased oxidation resistance and ultimately a smoother performance.

These also came in a brown (anodized?) cog color, used by Greg LeMond's "Z" team in the early 90's. Very light, very smooth running, very cool component.
